Madison Malone is a singer, songwriter, producer, and activist based in Los Angeles. I worked with her to create album art for her EP, I & II. The EP features two versions of each song: an acoustic take and a fully produced version. I wanted to echo this idea of taking a raw material and extending it into something bigger in the artwork itself. Starting with a simple portrait, I separated the photo into different color channels and overlapped them to create a soft, textural image. The resulting rainbow gradient is also a subtle nod to the LGBTQIA+ themes in Madison’s music.
